Vulpix's tail actually starts off as one tail and splits into several tails as it gets older.

Ekans is snake spelt backwards and Arbok is kobra (although it is actually spelt Cobra) spelt backwards.

The ends of the names of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres together reads uno, dos, tres (Spanish for 1,2,3).

Rotom is motor spelt backwards.

When poliwag evolves into poliwhirl, its swirl changes direction.

Dialga is the only dragon pokemon not to be weak to dragon.

In the anime slowpoke requires a shellder to evolve into slowbro, but in the games it evolves like any other pokemon.

The first legendary Ash sees in Kanto was Ho-oh who was a Johto pokemon.

Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald have the same first letters as Raikou, Suicune and Entai.

Deoxys is a DNA pokemon, and DNA has the same letters as the first letter of each of its forms Defense, Normal and Attack.

Bayleef, Quilava and Croconaw can be caught in pokemon colosseum, making them the only catchable starters.

The first pokemon created was Rhydon (Others argue that it is Rhyhorn or Poliwag).

Psychic type was not effected by ghost type in pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow.

Mr.Mime has Mr (Mister) in its name but can be a female.

Gengar was the first pokemon to be shown on the anime.

Ho-oH is read the same backwards and upside-down (assuming you keep both H's capital).

All the playable trainers in the games wear head ware(hat/bandanna).

Every pokemon movie contains legendary pokemon.

Lugia is the guardian of the sea, but isn't a water type.

Doduo and Dodrio can learn fly, but don't have wings.

All pokemon that can learn TMs can learn the move toxic.

Wooper can learn ice punch but has no arms.

Every Professor's is named after a type of tree. Oak tree, Birch tree etc.

HitmonLEE and HitmonCHAN get their names from the the famous Martial Art icons Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, and the fighting gym leader Chuck could relate to Chuck Norris.

Whitney's Gym is in the shape of a Clefairy.

Every town in Pokemon is named after a colour, except for Pallet Town which is named after the pallet used by artists to mix colours.
